Summary
Amends the:
Social Security Act 1991
,
Veterans’ Entitlements Act 1986
and
Social Services and Other Legislation Amendment (2014 Budget Measures No. 6) Act 2014
to increase the assets test free areas and the taper rate by which a pension is reduced once the free areas are exceeded from 1 January 2017; and
Social Security Act 1991
,
Social Security (Administration) Act 1999
and
Veterans’ Entitlements Act 1986
to provide that people whose pension is nil on 1 January 2017 as a result of the assets test changes will automatically be issued with a Commonwealth seniors health card or a health card.
